We are a Catholic family-owned-and-run business. Joe and Elaine Hilger recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have 12 children together and 50+ grandchildren; the family continues to grow. During a visit to the farm you will likely meet Joe, Elaine, their youngest son Will, daughter-in-law Desiree, and/or an assortment of the children and grandchildren that help around the farm. Joe and Will are second and third generation farmers, respectively. Both work together to keep the farm running. Elaine loves working in the greenhouse, tending to plants and sharing her wisdom. Desiree keeps the books in order and fills in where she can when she’s not taking care of her and Will’s children. Some very dear friends also do their part to keep the farm running smoothly. We do have some resident pets and livestock on the farm – dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks, goats, pigs, and a pony named Little Joe. They can be seen during our Fall Festival.
Hilger Family Farm’s roots reach back to 1925, nearly 100 years ago. To read more about the family farm’s history, go to our Family History page.
We offer something for everyone – produce and plants in the Spring and Summer, u-pick strawberries in June, and our Fall Festival with pumpkins, hayrides, delicious snacks, and family fun. We take a minimalist approach to growing crops – though we are not seeking organic certification nor do we plan to, we try to keep things as natural as possible. We are feeding our own families, after all. We hope that you love our farm as much as we do!
